Der Porsche 928 schien in seinen Anfangsjahren ein wahrer Dauerrenner gewesen zu sein - jedenfalls wurde der Kombicoupé der ersten Stunde ganze 18 Jahre lang produziert, von 1977 bis 1995, bis es das erste Folgemodell gab. Schon damals gab es die für Porsche typisch halbsenkrecht zu Boden neigende Heckscheibe, das Lenkrad zierte die Nummer des Modells, 928. Das letzte Modell, der 928 S4, zierte am Heck zusätzlich einen Heckspoiler. Die 18 Jahre der Produktion gingen also nicht spurlos an der Optimierung des Wagens vorbei, welcher zu den luxuriösesten Sportwagen seiner Zeit zählte. So wurden im Laufe der Zeit die am Anfang noch exklusive Klimaanlage Standard. Ebenfalls etwas antiquiert, aber schön anzusehen: Die senkrecht aufgestellten Scheinwerfer des 928 S4.
